This very relevant musical is a perfect tool to help start discussions on equity, race and privilege.  While entertaining, it brings awareness to issues of veiled racism inspiring  self reflection and action. Minimal Tech needs, no special lighting needed. Great for diversity trainings at the workplace, schools, colleges, churches, community centers. Facilitated talk-back with cast, and workshops available upon request.

TAKING ACTION!!

One Action – One Boulder County, or Niwot’s Arrow,
is a year-long arts inspired collaborative conversation and community action project that encourages us to learn about both the local and national histories of racial and economic injustice, and about the issues we face today. The project also challenges each of us to take one significant action toward a more equitable future on these two fronts and to support full inclusion. Boulder, Longmont and communities county-wide are offering events throughout the year.

Then Sean Met Khalid is a thought provoking and at times quite hilarious one-act musical that tackles racism in a refreshingly different manner. It is the story of a middle-class white family who adopts a black baby, Sean White. Life seems "normal" for Sean until he comes across an interview between Sean Hannity and the late Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammad. The characters are startlingly relatable; the scenes are uncomfortably close to home and prompt immediate self-reflection. With the help of powerful songs, the show cleverly tackles white privilege in a very accessible way, delivers a powerful message without preaching.

Then Sean Met Khalid  was inspired by and references the following scholars:
Dr Khalid Abdul Muhammad, Dr Amos N. Wilson, Dr Joy DeGruy, Sistah Soulja, & Eduardo-Bonilla Silva. Then Sean Met Khalid is a clear call to arms to rise above to the veiled racism in America.
